The 2016 CICMSA Fall Conference - So Many Expectations, So Little Time was a tremendous success with an increased number of participants attending the conference this year. Our keynote speaker, Zach Cattrell, President of IHCA/INCAL, guided us through the complicated changes occurring in Medicare reimbursement. Jon Hoffman, CEO of MNS, an Ohio company, gave us insights on what to expect should Indiana choose to coordinate benefits for patients who have both Medicare and Medicaid. Ohio employs a managed care model utilizing insurance companies to coordinate benefits for dual eligible patients in select counties in Ohio.
Vicki Knight, RN, BS, CCM, Community Health Network, led an engaging dialog during lunchtime to identify and utilize networking to improve case management strategies. Linda Saunders of Censusolutions, gave an insightful presentation on the effects of melodrama in the workplace and its impact on productivity and morale with suggestions of intervention to decrease melodrama. Dr. Adam Andres, founding physician at ARM, shared what he has learned physicians and potential patients and their families don’t know about what to expect when admitting to a Skilled Nursing Facility. Finally, Brenda Kenyon, RN, St. Vincent Hospice, gave us practical ideas about caring for ourselves as we experience compassion fatigue as case managers. Next year’s CICMSA Fall Conference is October 12, 2017. We hope to see you then.
