Thursday, December 17th

Today we held the last CICMSA Board of Directors meeting of 2020.

My term as President of CICMSA expires on December 31, 2020.  My successor, Samantha Walker, takes over as President on January 1, 2021. Rob Lawson, our treasurer, will be leaving as treasurer and as a member of the board at the end of the year.  He has everyone’s gratitude for serving as treasurer for CICMSA these past two years. At today’s meeting, I was appointed by the board to assume the financial duties of the treasurer while serving as the Immediate Past President for 2021.  Rejoining the Board of Directors in 2021 for a 3-year term will be Susi Plough, our former President.  Andrea Abbitt was elected to a full 3-year term after serving as an appointed board member this past year.  Marica Neuhauser has agreed to extend her time on the BOD another year. We will again have an 8-member board which leaves 6 vacant positions on the board open.

Our chapter continues to thrive.  We currently have 94 members and are the 21st largest chapter of the 70 national CMSA chapters.  We have had programming every month including two months when we had 2 programs.  Unfortunately, because of CoVid we were unable to have a Fall Conference.  This has impacted our chapter finances negatively.  Plans for 2021 include a Fall Conference in 2021.

Today we adopted strategic goals for 2021-2023.  They include:

  • Conduct an annual membership drive
  • Maintain a balanced budget
  • Design chapter meetings and networking opportunities that are pandemic compliant
  • Develop a CICMSA mentorship program to increase member satisfaction and involvement with the chapter.
  • Develop a chapter newsletter

Your continued support is essential to the success of your chapter.  Please promote CICMSA membership with your case manager colleagues who have not yet joined CICMSA.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday experience this year despite the pandemic.  Our chapter is blessed to have members like you.

Joe Miller, RN, ACM
